Those's!
Well, I guess all the signs were pointing to this, and I'm not surprised, but the outright BSing is amazing to see no matter how many times it happens. Meh, a CBDC wouldn't have been a great move for them anyway.
Any confirmation on the designs or if there will be a coin?

Collecting, ultimately, is not practical. Lol
100%
QuoteI just don't know that I'll be able to fully keep myself from impulse buys over time as I also work on other things and this becomes less of a major focus for me.
That's what will keep me from upgrading, other or new collections that are incomplete compared to a set that is done. My completed sets will kind of sit on the sidelines as I focus on other things especially if I'm satisfied with them and have hit my goals.

You just have to ride it out. It stinks but... funny thing being there were p-40, p-45, and p-46 zimbabwe notes I could have bought instead of grading my own. As Bonez did apparently. I just absolutely wasn't willing to pay the stupid money some people were demanding for "bleh" grades.
The stupid money is definitely a roadblock. It's weird as I've been reluctant to submit raw notes to PMG for some reason, I think mainly I hadn't built up a good stock pile of raw notes and it costs more to have notes graded through PMG compared to coins at NGC. The last time I looked it cost more, anyway. Also, Ukrainian notes were stupid cheap a year or two ago, now not so much...

I didn't bid on most all! Paid cash for every one! Collection of over decades of time!
That's probably the best way to do it. Get raw notes and just keep them or have them graded.

So... did you win anything at an inflated price??? The post leaves me a bit unclear on this.
Nope, didn't win a thing. I'll just keep biding my time, eventually I'll acquire the notes I was going after. More than likely I'm going submit my own notes and call it good.

While accuracy counts for a lot, if it isn't what PMG goes by I don't know how helpful it is for the registry.
True, but....
I bought the Ukrainian chapter a few years ago for an additional reference to help me determine what the SCWPM was missing or had incorrect and I pick up raw varieties based on that and other references/information. I have several Ukrainian notes that are not listed in the SCWPM and I plan on submitting them eventually. The worst case scenario, I think, is that they will receive the Pick # UNL on the PMG label but that won't stop me from asking for a slot in the registry and I'm pretty sure PMG will acquiesce.
Well.... The worst case scenario would be that PMG tells me my notes are phony and body bad them or that they are not Ukrainian, but I've ruled that possibility out completely. It's best that I don't think about it.

I'm tempted to get a subscription to the Banknote Book to see what they have listed for these. You used to be able to buy individual chapters but since they sold out to Greysheet the price went way up and it's a monthly subscription. I hate that. It's $10 for a one month subscription, I found it more accurate for Ukrainian banknotes than the SCWPM. I just go there to read the weekly updates.

I agree that the SCWPM is less than accurate, but still a great reference, and based on what you are telling me this is another swing and miss. A different printer doesn't mean a separate Pick #, typically, their are several Ukrainian banknotes of the same design/denomination where issues were printed at different facilities. The different printers are even called out under the same Pick # in the SCWPM so I'm ruling that one out.
Ok, I just opened the SCWPM to figure out what you're talking about and I'm wondering why there isn't 28a, b & c. Having three different Picks for these seems really odd to me. I think that 29 & 30 need to be merged into 28. While we're at it, might as well change 32 to 31b. You became a prefix collector and didn't know it.

Mike's thrice cursed upstart of a set
Thanks for the reminder.
Definitely a sweet pick up at a good price, but what am I missing? Why do these have separate Pick #'s as opposed to a variety Pick #?

Is there any connection to the statue of the unknown soldier? Is there a statue of her in the same park? I'm assuming there is since they are depicted on the same note.

Interesting......
Since I started tracking these on December 30th, the population has gone from 1,821 to 2,427 a 606 note increase. Pretty impressive, since PMG had only been averaging 121 Ukrainian notes per year prior to 2021 and if I take away the 2020 totals I'd bet the average would be much lower. I think it's safe to say the the number of Ukrainian notes graded by PMG has doubled since I started collecting these in late 2018 early 2019.

Glad to read that everyone has been successfully dogging Covid to date, and that is seems everything will be back to normal with a little time and rest. Covid scares are a pain and a sick household is just blah. Definitely time for some retail therapy, but wait for a 68.
Yeah, they are putting ZERO effort into redesigning these notes. They just don't care anymore.
QuoteI was looking at my comments for the Zimbabwe 3rd dollar set recently and I think I might try to go back soon and bolster those with some more information on what’s shown in some of the images on the back of the notes. I'm thinking about building in references or links to other notes in the set (1st dollars) where I talk about the Zimbabwe Ruins in more detail, adding information on St. Mary's Cathedral and the Parliament Building....
I think those are great ideas. Links to other notes, yeah I might have to steal that idea when I start building the descriptions for mine. I'm big on describing what's on the note, I love that, there is just so much information there to be dispensed.

Just be patient. The collector community for these is thin. I think it's mostly like 10-20 people for Zimbabwe depending on the series / set.
$20 for a 67 EPQ P64 in 2019 sounds about right, I was kind of expecting the 68 EPQ to sell for around $40-$60. Since I was pretty amped up about this note I put an $87 bid on it and walked away thinking that should be more than enough. I agree that the collector base for these is thin, very thin in my estimation, as there was only two bids on this note. Mine and the snipe.

UPDATE:
The 20 & 200 UAH commemorative banknotes are now scheduled to be released in November and the 50 & 1,000 UAH commemorative notes in December. More info to come as it becomes available.

Ok, one each of the Karbowanez series makes sense if you were a collector or selling but having (10) Karbovanets and (28) 500 Hryven notes graded doesn't, there's just not that many collectors out there to justify having those notes graded in large quantities, and since none of them appeared to have graded very high (nothing above 68 and very few at that level) I think this seller will have a difficult time selling these.

Three weeks in a row with no increase, and the low grade notes are not selling. Not good signs for large numbers of notes being submitted.

If I was going to put together a gang I'd look for people with nicknames like "Doesn't Welch Steve" or "Won't Leave With Out You Charlie".
Didn't know there was a banknote wiki, looks like they needed some content. Thanks for the link.

Even though there was not an increase in population this week, there was a change made to the population report. There was a denomination listed as "3" , that's it just 3, this denomination was removed from the population report and presumably merged into the 1 Hryvnia denomination total which saw an increase of +1 from the prior week. I totally agree with getting rid of the "3" denomination and putting it where it belongs.
I've noticed a slowing of new graded notes on the marketplace for several weeks now and sales have definitely dropped off. Now, all that's left are the typical low grade modern notes that no one wants and the ridiculously overpriced. I knew this ride would be over soon and to complete my Ukrainian sets I would have to self submit the remaining notes but I was hoping it would continue for a little longer.
Well, let's just call them out on it!
in Gradually, then suddenly.
