Steve in Tampa Posted November 27, 2010 Report Posted November 27, 2010 Just got this note from a fellow collector in Idaho. This note is listed in Robert Azpiazu Collectors Guide as the most rare note in modern day $1 FRN's (1963 thru current).

GregO-migration Posted January 15, 2011 Report Posted January 15, 2011 I'm just getting started in this, collecting colonial currency. I wanted to start of with a "bang" to me: John Hart was one of the signers of the declaration of independence. So there you go! Next up, a Ben Franklin printed note... -Greg
jtryka Posted January 15, 2011 Author Report Posted January 15, 2011 Awesome piece of history congrats!
BOILER78 Posted January 26, 2011 Report Posted January 26, 2011 I found this uncut Fugio pair on the bourse at the FUN show. Continental currency is a blast to collect!
SouthFlorida guy Posted February 5, 2011 Report Posted February 5, 2011 So there you go! Next up, a Ben Franklin printed note... -Greg I've been looking for 'Franklin and Hall' printed note. The Delaware issues look great, but in decent condition they will cost you. Same with the Pennsylvania issues. Maybe one day I'll come across someone desperate for cash and is willing to let one go on the cheap. I recently purchased this inexpensive piece just to have a tiny piece of colonial history in my collection.
SouthFlorida guy Posted February 9, 2011 Report Posted February 9, 2011 Mailman just delivered these two bills. I really like the Martha note. The 1886 is much more expensive (at this grade) but I actually like the 1891 because it has Martha's name under her picture. I like where the two dates are placed as well. Matter of personal preference.
Steve in Tampa Posted February 14, 2011 Report Posted February 14, 2011 Both notes have wonderful eye appeal, and face up nicely...CONGRATS. I was able to pick this up for face value from a young lady named Iguana Girl at the Where's George website. I collect serial #12 and different variations. My friend Bert, (grimreaper) was kind enough to PM me when he saw it.
jtryka Posted February 24, 2011 Author Report Posted February 24, 2011 Got this one yesterday, nothing too special, but I got it from a coworker for face since she was going to spend it!
Doohickamabob Posted February 25, 2011 Report Posted February 25, 2011 Hi there, I am completely new to this section of the boards. I know nothing about collectible currency. Question: At an estate sale this morning, I bought (for almost nothing) a small envelope of old foreign currency. I just thought it looked cool. Now I'm wondering: Is it worth anything (other than face value)? Are any of these notes rare, or are they fairly common among those who collect this sort of thing? Here is a pic: Currencies include the Phillipines, Mexico, Canada, Hong Kong, Vietnam, and "Military Payment Certificates" for a whopping 5 cents. Many have no dates, but I saw 1949 on a few of them. I'm curious for any light you might shed on 'em. Thank you!
SouthFlorida guy Posted February 26, 2011 Report Posted February 26, 2011 I couldn't tell you a thing about foriegn currency. Probably best to start a thread and ask people that know about this sort of thing. Even though most of the notes look pretty beat up, they do look cool.
GW Posted February 26, 2011 Report Posted February 26, 2011 (edited) my wife gave me the $2 bill below as a valentine days gift. i always ask her for new crisp bills from the bank. she said this is the only crisp bill they had. lately i have not been able to get any new crisp bills at the bank. they always say to come back at christmas time. (the frog is on the holder, not the note, that would cost extra.) Edited February 26, 2011 by GW
jtryka Posted March 5, 2011 Author Report Posted March 5, 2011 Here are a few notes I got as a gift for helping a friend's grandfather sell some of his coins, a very thoughtful gift.
Steve in Tampa Posted March 10, 2011 Report Posted March 10, 2011 My latest addition is an upgrade from one of the lowest graded PMG Hawaiian $1 Y-B block known..... .....to this respectable example in GEM condition.
Steve in Tampa Posted March 10, 2011 Report Posted March 10, 2011 My first "courtesy autograph" from a BEP Engraver.
Hawkman Posted March 12, 2011 Report Posted March 12, 2011 found a 2006 L series star note. reg # is 03743462. fairly well worn. not sure if it's worth much. cool tho.
kbsig106 Posted March 17, 2011 Report Posted March 17, 2011 bought my wife one of these at CPMX. Speaked of Disney - I picked up what I think is rare a 2006 $5 Star from the L12 San Francisco District in my change from one of the food vendors at the Magic Kingdom last month. PMG is showing 0/0 for this series and district. This is my 4th star note I have picked up at the Disney Parks in the last two years. A funny find but at the same time it's not so funny trying to keep the note clean the rest of the day. Any ways, the 9th Ed. of the Standard Guide to Small Sized U.S. Paper Money shows a printing of 640,000 in "sheets" only. I checked the BEP store and they're not selling 2006 $5 star sheets for L12, any ideas? Did someone cut up some sheets? Should I send to PMG with my next batch of 50 notes - $15 worth it? Book value in UC is $75. I would give the note a VF+/XF - still has some crispy feel w/ the edges not too bad.
GW Posted March 19, 2011 Report Posted March 19, 2011 great find, i can't find any new crisp bills, low numbers or stars in circulation. from the websites, it looks like its from a sheet note. just like you said. 20,000 sheets. printed in September 2008 http://www.uspapermoney.info/serials/f2006qq.html http://www.moneyfactory.gov/images/BOSRFRNP_Sep2008.pdf i would hold on to it for awhile, before having it graded. maybe you will find a better one. i'll be looking too.
