  2. Pick # 133 was assigned to this note.

Currently available graded for astronomical prices, I'll be waiting until a seller with realistic expectations lists them or send in my own. I'm sure the larger sellers will have them available soon for around $75 in 68EPQ. These are available for under $20 raw all day long.

The Pop Report was still fluctuating wildly throughout the week, Tuesdays seem to be potentially accurate but until the fluctuating stops who knows. (shrug) The database is still shutdown and you still can't import new notes to your registry. I'm not sure what but something was changed, crashed, or both. I hope it gets fixed soon.

  4. Woah! A fantastic note though and I assume a true rarity in that condition.

It will be interesting to see what that note goes for if it comes back up for auction in the near future. I'm a little surprised that it drew such spirited bidding at Sedwick's, not top of mind when it comes to banknotes for me. I guess it speaks to the strength, popularity and increased demand for Guatemalan notes and the market in general.

With availability and prices realized for condition rarities I'm more than happy to pick up circulated notes for certain examples, it just doesn't make sense do anything else for most people.

  5.  -228 = 4,236! Look out below!

Yowzah! That is quite the correction that was made after the las update on Tuesday. I'm posting an image of one of the spreadsheets I enter the Pop data into, the image is of the entries over the last month and as you can see they really went at it this week. It was a bloodbath. :o

The 500 Hryven and 1000 Karbovantsiv denominations were hardest hit with adjustments of over 30 notes each. Some minor adjustments are common but a 228 note correction is massive. I wonder what facilitated the changes?

I couldn't cope with a moving end date due to new issues, which is probably why the periods my coin and note collections cover have a known start and finish date - the bit in between can be a bit variable though

It is nice to have finite range of notes to focus on, these wouldn't be so bad if the NBU could keep a Governor for more than a couple years at a time and if they calmed down on the commemoratives for a bit. The NBU always churned out a lot of "stuff" for coin collectors, banknotes only recently started getting this treatment in the last few years.

Great summary :golfclap:   Rare notes from anywhere in the world seem to be appearing all over the place at the moment - most also seem to be recently graded given the QR code on the back of the holders and, as you have highlighted, are attracting very high prices.

It's interesting, and I may have mentioned this already, but the coin market seems to be softening in some areas that I collect but notes are either holding steady or rising in the case of most rarities.

Even though I have no chance of ever owning most of these notes I think the auction appearances are invaluable in confirming that some of them do actually exist (thumbsu An added bonus is there is now a decent image of the note with legible dates, S/Ns and signatures etc, this does make research a bit easier and, if they are graded, even more so.

Exactly! I saved the images, descriptions and other additional information for all of these notes, and more. My database is starting to get pretty impressive, with all notes organized by Pick, serial number, and additional identifiers. Keeping track of notes is a worthwhile exercise, invaluable really.

I love that note! I really wish I could have picked it up! That note was previously unlisted to the best of my knowledge.

Another 5 Chervontsiv note hitting the pop report is interesting, and in the same grade as a previous note. I wonder if it wasn't a resubmission, if it goes up for auction we'll find out. The seven 500 Karbowanez notes being graded is a lot, but none got over the 66 EPQ threshold.

Interesting to see the large increase in the 1000 Karbovantsiv notes, I was kind of  hopping to see some increases in the lower population P#'s, or some new P'#'s, but it looks like it was more of the usual. The 2023, 20 Hryven commemoratives haven't hit yet either.

The 500 Hryven Skovoroda Commemorative is hitting the pop report now with 14 graded and only 4 at 68 with none higher. The 2023, 20 Hryven commemorative hasn't hit the Pop Report yet so I expect a big increase for those in the coming weeks. The 2 Karbowanez saw an increase of +2 after an adjustment last week of -1, these notes popup fairly often in auctions as I've currently logged by serial number, with images and sales tracking, over 26 of these. Also, lots of the WWI era notes being graded currently, with many appearing to be going up for auction at major auction houses.

I noticed something else with the 1 Peso the crop marks or trim/cut marks are really evident on the note, another reason I like it so much, were these printed on 4 subject sheets? I'm assuming that they were printed in a single column per sheet based on the markings, and four subject sheets seem to be more common at the time but.. (shrug) I believe the serial numbers would have been added to the notes on each sheet in consecutive order, if the other notes from the sheet could be found that would be sweet! An impossible, secondary, task for the Impossible Set.

Great looking notes added to your collection. I like the 20 cent note and it kind of reminds me of notgeld notes. Very cool.

I thought it was Ebenezer Scrooge on the face of the note. xD Definitely looks like a piece of notgeld.

    Pick up any notes lately?

  14. Amazing notes! I particularly like the look of the 1 peso, the engraving and print quality may not be on par with some of the others but it is nonetheless esthetically pleasing, and that bold red stamp. :golfclap: Looks like it was printed on some low quality or thin paper, like many of the notes printed by the "wildcat" banks of the U.S. in the mid 1800's. Was that note printed locally?

More moderns may feature in the April additions - but the security features for some of the notes I was going to add means they don't scan doh!

I hate when that happens! The 2020 Zimbabwe issues, particularly, seem to give my printer/scanner heartburn, I had to give up and take pictures of those notes.

  16. Looks like you've made good progress on the Impossible set in March, although since you've given yourself a big selection of notes to chose from only adding a handful a month actually shows restraint. Something I'm severely lacking in at times, along with funds it seems as there are a lot great notes tempting me at the moment. xD

I was looking over the A.I.S. and was wondering why you went with moderns for some of the examples? Venezuela particularly caught my eye. Was this the time period you found most interesting, availability of examples, cost, etc.?
