    I don't know the origin of the bills. Several of them look to be hand cut and all end in same in similar serial number half all end in 3546 and half end in 4437 so don't know if that means they all come from the same sheet or not.

    Hmm, definitely sounds like they were cut from a sheet, and poorly at that. Uncut sheets were sold by the B.E.P. to collectors, cutting notes from sheets like this further decreases their value. Also, I wouldn't be surprised if someone tried to make a few "error" notes from the sheet either.

    Hello all,

    So I have a stack of these $2 Star Notes I'm trying to get graded but can't seem to find a corresponding catalog number for them. I checked here: https://colnect.com/en/banknotes/list/country/225-United_States_of_America/series/55199-1976_Federal_Reserve_Notes_-_Small_Size_1976_Series/face_value/2-2 but did not see it. It looks just like the P-461 D except its the reissue. Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

    Fr 1935-D* is the Friedberg catalog number.

    The note looks weird, was it cut from a sheet? Based on the availability and condition of this note it does not warrant grading.

    We found approx 50 consecutive pristine Disney Dollars from Disney World Florida grand opening year 1971 that my dad had stashed away (he verified that he got them at DW in 1971).

    Where do I even start?    Best places to sell?  Can I certify in bulk?  Better to sell individually, in bulk, or other?

    Any help appreciated!

    Can you post a pic front and back of one of the notes?

    Hello all,

    I'd like to ask for your opinions concerning a Great Britain Registry Set.

    Does anyone else feel that the following notes should be removed as "slots" in the "Great Britain 1902-Date, Type Set, Issued Notes" Registry Set because they are Unissued Notes?  In my opinion, unissued notes should not be part of an "Issued Notes" registry set:

    * 5 Shillings 1919 ND First Issue P352 T27 ND (1919) 5/- Shillings - Sign. N.K.W. Fisher- Unissued GBR352

    * 1 Shilling 1919 ND Second Issue P353 T29 ND (1919) 1/- Shilling - Sign. N.K.W. Fisher- Unissued GBR353

    * 2 Shillings - 6 Pence 1940-41 ND Emergency Issue P364 B254 ND (1941) 2/- Shillings 6 Pence Sign. K.O. Peppiatt- Unissued GBR364

    * 5 Shillings 1940-41 ND Emergency Issue P365 B253 ND (1941) 5/- Shillings Sign. K.O. Peppiatt- Unissued GBR365

    I've submitted this issue to PMG for review and will be awaiting their reply, but I also wanted to send out this request for opinions from the Forum group, too.

    Thank you for sharing your thoughts.  Please let me know if you agree or why I am wrong.  Again, my justification for the request for removal is that Unissued notes should not hold slots in an "Issued Notes" Registry set, such as this one is.

    Best Regards,

    Billy

    I'm sure that they'll remove the unissued notes, that's been my experience at any rate. I don't like the removal of unissued notes unless PMG was to create a different set that included them, which they won't. Some unissued notes are readily available and in many people's collections some are not, or are only available as specimens, etc.. My vote would be to include unissued notes in the set registries but give them a 0 points value.

    From what I have read so far, if a banknote is graded it will just get a "Details" grade with a short blurb of what damage the bill has if there is handwriting of any kind on the bill.

    I have the opportunity to buy a bill from someone, BUT, the bill has writing (a "75" to the right of the seal) and a red felt mark just touching the top of the 2nd last digit of the serial number and is about "2 digits' wide.

    Question is, HOW MUCH percentage-wise is the value of a bill (in general) reduced by pen or felt marks? So far I have only seen it described as "Significantly", but are we talking 50%... 75%... more?

    This shouldn't details grade but it will receive a mention on the holder of "annotations" and probably won't get EPQ. Both of which will decrease the value, by how much it's hard to say but based on what I can see of the condition of the note in the image you posted probably not too much as it appears to be heavily circulated. I'm assuming that this is one of the duplicated S# notes and that you have the match to it? That adds another layer but I would start with what is the overall condition of the note, forget about the annotation and mark for now, the note in the pictures seems to be in VF 35 range and I don't think the marks devalue it too much more because the overall condition is not great. Certainly not 50-75% in my mind.

    In the PMG website, the price guide is only give for PMG60 and PMG20. for example, Singapore Orchid 1 dollar Without red seal. Signature Lim Kim San (1967), price guide: https://www.pmgnotes.com/priceguide/world-note-prices.aspx?deid=1788843&subcat=1967-1973 ND Issue&fromsearch=true. PMG60 is 30 USD, so what is the price guide for PMG40? and price guide for PMG40 EPQ?

    The best way to determine value is by checking recent auction records, Heritage, Stack's Bowers, Ebay, to name a few. I don't use the PMG price guide at all when determining FMV, but it can be used as a very general reference.

    Hello Everyone,

    Maybe somebody have any information about sleeves of OPP ?

    What is the different between OPP and PP ?

    Thank you

    PP and OPP should be fine for the short term but Mylar (BoPET) sleeves are far superior to any PP or OPP that you can buy. I use Mylar sleeves.

    Thanks again Fenntucky Mike,  Looking at it with a magnifying glass and a loupe, it really looks like the stamp is below the torch.  The fine white gaps have black ink in them.  If I sent this in for grading would PMG verify this?

    If you send it in PMG will look at it. It will come back as a non error, with a notation of "teller stamp", seems like a terrible waste of money to me.

    Things to think about, the teller's stamp is interrupted, in a straight vertical line where a strap would be, with the lower portion of LOOMIS missing. The teller's stamp is obviously over the underprinting and appears to be over the second printing as well, meaning the stamp would had to been applied prior to the torch being printed. How would a LOOMIS stamp be applied between printings?

    Went through some of my circulated bills and found this $10 with a rubber stamp, that is printed over.  The torch prints over the rubber stamping. Sorry not able to load the full bill.  1.) Anyway, is this an "obstructed printing error" alone or is this "obstructed printing error with retaining obstruction"?  The obstruction being the stamping of the rubber stamp, not the actual rubber stamp device?

    2.) How do I find or get the Friedberg or Pick number?

    3.) The bill has no tares, but has several creases, would this bill be one of $300 or less, or a greater value?

    Looks like a Loomis stamp. Someone was a little sloppy when they stamped the strap and got most of it on the note. The black is faded on the red torch because it didn't adhere to it well or faded, I think. Doesn't seem like an error to me.

    Added another sample holder banknote to my collection. I hold 4 PMG samples now and 3 from other graders.

    Ukraine 1 Hryvnia 2014 P116Ac.jpg

    Gotta love that Ukrainian Hryvnia. I've seen this same type note used by PMG for samples given at other shows. Did you go to HICC?

    Here's the same type note used for a sample in an older Gen 3 holder. It's for sale on Ebay if you're interested.

    I tried to crop my note in my photo shop program, and my photo shop program won't allow me to open pictures of the full currency.  And so then I tried loading the un edited photo here, and it's too large.  And when I tried to load a reduced size picture of the error itself, this program said "There was a problem loading the file"  Any suggested solutions?

    Maybe the file type was one that won't work, .jpg, .tiff, gif. files all seem to work best for me, and I always have to shrink down the image to reduce the file size. Try it again, sometimes this site is tempermental.

    1.  Is there a good practice figuring out if it is worth grading?
    2.  Also, how hard is it to look for error pricing in PMG?  Still figuring out this website and the population report flow.
    It is pretty hard eye balling bills and coins when I am only just starting this journey now.

    It's worth having authenticated in my opinion, just so people know it's real, and the best wat to determine value is by researching recent auction sales of notes with similar errors. Stack's, Heritage, ebay, etc., etc., etc,... PMG won't list error pricing and they don't differentiate between notes and error notes in the Pop Report, not that I've ever seen anyway.

    I have a 1976 $2 bill, looks uncirculated or very close.  This has a foldover / inverted print of Jefferson on the back.
    I cannot find anything on this with google.
    Bing chat-gpt seems to say this is a very rare error, maybe 100 in existence.
    Is this like $1,000 rare or closer to $50,000 rare?  I don't want to spend $300 mailing and grading it for $600-$700 profit.  Would rather give it to my kids.

    Thanks for any assistance,

    Jacob

    It's call and offset printing error, it happens when there is no paper between the printing plate and impression cylinder, ink is transferred from the plate to the cylinder then the ink on the cylinder will transfer to the opposite side of the next several sheets until the ink is gone. Value depends on how visible and large the area affected is, your note has a strong transfer but only about 2/3's of the design was transferred. I'd say it could fetch in the $1-$2,000 range, maybe a little more. Nice find.

    bought a PMG graded banknote (PMG 15), it is very dirty, if I take out the banknotes, using chemical to clean it, and resubmit to PMG for grading, would PMG reject to grade and give the note counterfeit because they already have the banknote number in the database/registry? it can't have two banknotes with the same number.

    I don't know what the note is graded now but if you "clean" the note it will almost certainly be returned as "cleaned", and worst case they return the note in a body bag. My recommendation is to leave the note alone! It won't grade higher because it was "cleaned", it will probably be graded more harshly with additional notations on it being cleaned, it will be less desirable to collectors, and decrease the value of the note.

    Newbie here. There is missing background ink on the complete left obverse side of this 2009 Ten Dollar Bill. The lack of ink begins right in the middle, at the top next to the R in RESERVE, and right in the middle at the bottom next to the letter D in Dollar. Can anyone tell me what kind of error this is? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

    Possible obstructed printing but seeing as the color loss stops/stars at the center fold it seems more likely that the underprint faded or was lost due to circulation. Regardless, if an actual error, the note would only be worth face value or slightly above due to the condition.

    I contacted Heritage.  They estimated the value of the note at $2k+ but said for them to do a consignment, they needed a total estimated value of $5k.  She asked if I had other notes to bring the total to $5k.  I have other notes, but nothing all THAT special.

    Looks like the only option is Ebay?

    Thanks

    At least they gave you an estimate, but I'd still try to find some comps before listing on ebay. Good luck! (thumbsu
