Disney sets need more collectors

There are 18 Disney dollar competitive sets, only 3 of which are in use for a total of 25 registered sets.  For Large Size National Bank Notes there are 6 competitive sets, all are used for a total of 176 registered sets.  For Small Size National Bank Notes, there are two competitive sets, both are used with a total of 141 registered sets.  Can't NBN collectors get as many competitive sets as the Disney dollar collector?  Or at least a few type sets like the Wavin' Mickey or Proud Goofy?  Disney Dollars get denomination sets ($1, $5, $10, $50).  That would be neat for NBNs; I'd prefer the $20 NBN denomination set myself.

I think it is unfortunate that there are so many empty categories for Disney dollars, but I think you're skewing things a bit by counting sets instead of counting users. Yes, there are 176 sets for Large NBNs, but something like ~48 of those are just you - You alone own 27.3% of the LSNBN sets if I'm seeing this right. Another large chunk of that is Sheik (26 sets, 14.8%). The two of you together own 42% of the NBN Registry Sets There are 141 Small NBN sets, but 14 of those are just you and 9 are Sheik sets.

Those 25 registered Disney Dollar sets represent 22-23 unique users. So, if you count users and not sets, this is less skewed than it sounds from your post.

Although, now that you mention it, my wife would probably enjoy me branching out into Disney Dollars. She loves Disney World and Disney Cruises.

So there's 100 other LSNBN sets besides the top 2 owners competing sets--that's 4 times more than Disney dollar sets.  Zibabwe has 14 different sets, so over twice as many sets as NBN sets.
If you look at the top 3 in these 14 Zimbabwe sets, 8 are you.  Now that's fine and good for the Zimbabwe collectors as they have a place to display and compete their notes.  Ought to be more national bank note sets and I wouldn't have to make a 1902 type set for all of my favorite states (and two for PA and NY and MA).

My complaint is about lack of sets--build a better place to compete Nationals and we ought to get more users and hopefully more sets with pictures to admire.

Seems fairly accurate to me.

Yeah. You still have more sets, but the 4 to one would only hold if you two were the only ones with multiple sets and you aren't. Akadata has 8 LSNBN sets for example.

I'm not really trying to make any point other than, if you look at user base as a gauge of interest, it isn't quite as skewed as you imply. Even then, I don't actually think the expected number of participants has anything to do with what categories get created. Rather, someone asks for them, and, if PMG feels like it, thinks they can reasonably implement it, and think it fits in with some scheme or vision they have for how they want this place to run, they do it.

On the NGC side, one you get asked for a lot is Civil War Tokens. Lots of interest. Lots of people ask for it and would love it. It is darn hard to implement with a competitive set, so there are none and people make signature sets instead.

Very true. There are a lot of areas in the registry where you have one or two dominant users. Funny thing is, I think two of those categories are completely unnecessary - arguably 3. I only compete in them because they're there.

So if it was up to you, what sets would you add? I read mention of denomination sets, I think that would be a good start. Any others? Would you want it to go as far as State sets, counties, individual banks?

In general I agree, the more sets the better, and the better for me to look at them. I feel that more sets helps to keep the registry more organized and easier to view, enjoy and interpret.

You can check out my signature sets as ones I would add in addition to the ones I mentioned earlier.  Easiest to implement for PMG ought to be sets by Denomination OR Fr. # for the various series (original, 1875, 1882, 1902).  Sets by region might be fun, but hard to implement as would be sets by states--an IT savvy person could do this and hopefully PMG has IT savvy folks protecting us from cyber attacks (I'd prefer not having my credit card info hacked here :-).  First 100 charters is a fun set--I actually don't have one of those and for Small NBN collectors, 14000 and above charters are collected (that's a signature set I could start).  Here's a Small NBN signature set I did start--I also have the set in Large--The A-Z set sig.jpg

Another smaller, but fun set using the Bank title information--here you find banks with Union in their titles.  sig.jpg

One concept borrowed from NGC is the lowball set.  Why don't we have these over here on PMG?  Here's mine--I actually compete this one, but it doesn't work correctly like the lowball coin sets.  sig.jpg  Here's the set description:  These notes served the Nation and their communities and then survived to this day.  Where do your lowest grade notes shine?  In a lowball set of course.

Yes, lowball! ^^

That should be an easy one to add and not disrupt the current registry structure.

Fr# is another good one.

I love your lowball set. Here is my Caldwell low ball. However it's about 20 miles from my abode, Caldwell, Texas. Looks like they used the same plate for your Caldwell, NJ note!

REVENANT!!! In case you didn't see this article.

Hmmm... Interesting. No I hadn't seem that, thank you! But the accuracy of their assertion depends in some respects on how you define hyperinflation. Some consider the debasement of the Denarius in 3rd century Rome and the effects it had on the value of the Denarius in trade to have been a hyperinflation. Some others might also include the devaluation of the Continental Currency and the expression "Not worth a continental," to have been an example. The continental currency didn't beat the French event by much chronologically but its there.

Funny note but, while, so far, it hasn't met certain technical definitions of hyperinflation, I think the new ZWD from 2019 is currently experiencing a new, 2nd Zimbabwean hyperinflation and that it's all but officially dead.

Yep, BEP reused the rolls for Caldwell, National Bank and even the "THE" (Texas is 6607 and NJ is 7131).  Good eye.  Looks like the Jersey plate got a little flourish between Caldwell and the tombstone.

Caldwell is a city in the states of OH, KS, ID, TX, & NJ with 13 different banks!  Two are Small NBNs only.  Surprisingly, NJ has the only Caldwell with just one National Bank.
