I had forgotten that I had attended (by accident) the Society of Paper Money Collectors' (SPMC) address when I attended FUN 2020.  Right after -- and a bit before -- I actually was more active with buying bills/currency than with coins.:o

Anyway, they have some great resources available with older articles of journal quality:

I spent most of my time here in the U.S. Small Size articles:

Unless you join, the most recent articles (within 5 years) are off-limits but there are some great older articles and the ones from 2019 on are being turned on.  You can also just join.xD

The SPMC is a great site, whoever goes and checks it out should get on their email list, they put out an email once a week with links to articles and news one banknotes, including lists of upcoming shows throughout the U.S.

Lucky son-of-a-gun. :golfclap:

Nice bill...surprised it wasn't grabbed upon printing.

If uncirculated is worth $15,000 then I would say this condition is probably going to be worth at most $3,000 or so, give or take.  It's REALLY worn, probably grades VF 25 or so.

Personally, I would sell it asap.

Holding it for his daughter probably not a good idea unless they are both serious collectors and can afford to do so.

2013b.com   The largest serial number database for those hoping to find a matched pair of the $1 2013 (B seal) star notes that feature duplicated serial numbers.  A production error where both the Washington DC and Fort Worth BEP printed the SAME serial numbers.

The link will take you to an introductory page that goes into detail about this error.  Currently prices for a matched pair have ranged from $500 to $25,000.

My biggest question is will they start printing $500 & $1000 notes again anytime soon? Or any denomination over $100?

Doesn't seem like it at this point, as long as technology stays ahead, and there is plenty of physical cash,  of the game for making payments there is really no need for large denomination notes.

If you use the inflation arguments, a case can be made for it.  But credit cards, BIN, online credit sources, etc...are so ubiquitous that everybody has access to them, even teens.  50 years ago not every adult could get even 1 credit card.  They HAD to use cash, though the kinds of people who couldn't qualify for a credit card were unlikely to need $100 bills, let alone larger ones. xD

There was talk a while back about coming out with a $500 bill with Ronald Reagan on it (shhhh...don't tell Doc Brown !! xD) but nothing came of it.

I think it will come down to the risk of counterfeiting, not usage, if BEP gives its endorsement.  I could see a limited number of $500 or $1,000 bills being printed....and then given away as gifts and/or hoarded by the public.
