Ohnoimbroke
I just read this on this note . What does it do to a note and why do people do it ? Thanks Edited December 17, 2022 by Ohnoimbroke Fenntucky Mike
Fenntucky Mike
Interesting, I'll have to look this up tomorrow. I'm going to assume that this was a preservation attempt but I want to look into it further. FYI, I haven't been able to access the forums for over a week, I'll be happy to take a look at this know that the chat boards are back up and running. Fenntucky Mike
I can't say with certainty but the most likely reason for lacquering the seal and serial numbers would be to preserve them and/or to make them appear more vibrant. A practice that may have been considered acceptable at one time, along with pressing notes, but is now frowned upon. That's my best guess anyway, and definitely a note I would steer clear of. Ohnoimbroke
Yeah Mike . I don't find a lot of lacquering seals . I want a nice 1928 legal tender . But I'll pass on this on . Thanks for the help . Fenntucky Mike
Fenntucky Mike
Approach any note with a NET grade with caution, if not a full sprint in the opposite direction. 👍
