Combatmedic3rdid
I was curious what is the symbol on some 1899 $1 silver certificate. Looks like 2 triangles with a line separating it. Thanks
Fenntucky Mike
I believe it's a delimiter, a symbol/character used at the end of the serial number ending the sequence. This was one of many symbols used by the BEP to terminate a serial number, there are probably varieties of the symbol/s (different fonts or type sizes used) but I don't think they bring any premium. I'm not a U.S. collector so I could be a little off on my description. Got a pick of the note?

Again thank you for your time. Yeah, that's the symbol I was thinking of. If you post this question in the ask PMG section of the Forum Jennifer can provide a much better answer than I can. Is that one of your notes or one you're looking to buy?

Thanks for the assist Steve. I'm saving those images to my U.S. notes file for future reference, good information there.
