i have book on standard catalog. can't find pick number for dollar bill

Hello @Computer Lab, thank you for your message. Is it a USA note? If so, for most U.S. notes, we use the book, Paper Money of the United States by Arthur and Ira Friedberg, this is also known as the Friedberg number. You may be able to find the catalog number in that book instead.
