I joined PMG about a month ago as I wanted to submit a bulk lot of 50 mixed Modern banknotes.

Last week, I wrote an email to ask customer service if I could submit the above banknotes from Iran.  They are P-91c 100 Rials, P-93b 500 Rials, P-119a 200 Rials & P-124b 500 Rials.  The first 2 notes are from the 1971 Light Panel issue & the last 2 are from the Second (1979-80) Provisional Issue with overprints.

I got a vague reply that they cannot certify banknotes from Iran & would need to have the notes in hand to determine if they could go ahead or reject them.

Does anybody know?

Thanks!

Welcome to the PMG forum Notaphily!

I would have to assume that this has something to do with Iran being a country sanctioned by the U.S.. I would think that if you live in the U.S. and are shipping the notes from a U.S. address to PMG in Florida that these should be ok for them to grade and encapsulate but there could very well be additional laws/regulations preventing PMG to handle these or certain notes. (shrug) I guess your only option would be to send them in and see what they say. I'd make sure that PMG would ship the notes back to you if rejected.

Good luck. (thumbsu

Thanks for the reply @Fenntucky Mike . I am not from the States so the border is a problem right off the bat.  I guess I will have to pull those 4 notes & substitute them with others.  Kind of frustrating but no problem in the end (just another delay).

Now, I'm just hoping the Canadian customs won't be imposing any new duties on the notes as they were already paid for!
