Hansatsu and other Pre Meiji (1870) Japanese Currency. (AKA bookmark notes)

3 posts in this topic

Hello!

I'm looking for more information on Hansatsu and other Pre Meiji Currency information.

Has an English catalog or book about the subject ever been written? I know of two Japanese Catalogs, one recently published and another published 30 years ago.

Any websites perhaps? Besides the bank of Japan's site.

I am also looking for dealers and places where I can find Hansatsu et al for sale.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thank you!

PS If you collect Hansatsu, feel free to send me a message and say "Hi!" I'd love to get in touch with other collectors. I've also scanned some of my Hansatsu and they are available online to be seen and shared.

I have several Hansatsu issues I acquired purely for the look of the pieces. Without investigating much, I am in the same boat as you as to information out there on them. All that I am aware of is the same references you referred to.
