rick008
Hi Everyone, I am quite new to collecting paper money but have developed an interest very quickly. I have often seen North Korean paper money being sold on websites, and by eBay sellers and the price always seems quite cheap even for the old editions. A whole set on eBay may cost $18 or less. Whereas an old chinese edition of just one note would cost much more than this. I have heard that it is also illegal for foreigners to take money out of North Korea which surely means that the it should be quite rare, unless they are selling lots of it to outside countries. I am just not sure whether the notes being advertised are fake or not. Some of the sellers claim to only sell genuine notes and have near perfect feedback. Can anybody else advise me on this matter? I would be grateful for any advice. Thanks for your time in advance. Rick
lettow
Large quantities of North Korean notes entered the markets through Chinese sources. One theory is that the North Korean government has been selling them to obtain hard currency.
rick008
Thanks for your reply. Ok that goes someway to explaining it. Do you know if the old editions also have watermarks?

NicolaiiRitzy
Good question. I've been interested in Economics all my life, I work as an economist, and I had to take additional courses. After taking courses in financial modeling, he started to collect money from all over the world. Highly recommended.
