DreamyPoppy
For currency, the government records issue and redemption. Does anyone know where I can find the official tally on how many old banknotes remain outstanding? Like how many 1862 Legal Tenders or 1899 Silver remain. The PMG population report shows the number of graded notes but that only represents a fraction of the total. I know the info is in the government treasury records somewhere. I just can't find it. RWB
The redemption journals are at NARA in College Park, MD. Prepare to spend several days until you find what you want.
wheat'swheats
With the advent of the internet, I have found that you can now look up some specific banks (national currency) and find when they were closed and the number of notes outstanding. With federal reserve you might need to go to Md. wheat
