Ive lost my link to a site that had all the FR signature combinations for 1899 black eagles. Anyone know which site im talking about?

I am surprised you found a site with FR numbers. Those are usually protected by the authors of the Friedberg reference book. I would buy a copy of United States Paper Money. That way you have pictures, prices, and fr numbers.

Yeah the site had all the FR black eagles and discussed the rarities by signature. The "FRN-272" for xampke was the link and then it took you to a pic of the bills. Somewhat of a crude site.

On a side note, if the FRN numbers have become the hobby standard of identification is it really copywright-able? Kinda the way everyone lists their world coins by KM number on ebay. Doesnt seem like there is harm in that to me. FRN afterall is an acronym for Federal Reserve Note which no one should be able to copywright IMO

FR is shorthand for Friedburg the last name of the authors of the catalog.

FRN is shorthand for Federal Reserve Note.

There is a difference.

Black Eagles are silver certificates not Federal Reserve Notes.
