What Fr# is my 1899 Black Eagle note?

Hi,

I am not sure about my note's Fr Number.

 

Is it FR# 229? or 229a?

 

the signitures look like to be by VERNON & McCLUNG, but I am bot sure about the place of Date. Is this right or ...

 

If it it a rare note, I will send it to you to grade it which I think is XF.

Fr. 229 notes have the date printed below the serial number, and Fr. 229a notes have the date printed to the right of the seal. Fr. 229a is much rarer than the Fr. 229 and can be confused often because of this slight difference. Thanks for your question.
