Help! What price guide do I use?

2 posts in this topic

Hello,

I have no idea if this question has been asked, but I collect all kinds of US ONLY currency. The problem is there are two price guides, each giving me different information. They are:

United States Paper Money 2nd Edition by Whitman

and the Blackbook Price Guide to US Paper Money by Random House (2011 edition).

I like both; but which is more accurate as some notes are listed in UNC-63 at hundreds of dollars in difference of price; between the two guides...

any advice on which to use, if any at all?

Thanks again!

Most people use various methods for pricing purposes.

- Auction Archives (Heritage is a HUGE one)

- Track & Price, etc.

- Publications

As for publications, that list is HUGE.

I use "Standard Guide to Small-Size U.S. Paper Money" 9th Edition for all Small Size notes. I actually own all Editions 1-9 and there is NOTHING better on the market for Small Size notes.

For Large Size and Nationals, there are plenty to choose from.

Hope this helps you out to start with.

Let me know.
