notes is Unc..but with tiny tear or dirt, is grades as VF?

i am just getting into the grading of notes and that is a very good question.

When you say perfect note i'm guessing you mean UNC/GEM. If the note has a spot or a rust stain it would still grade high just with an apparent grade. Even the tear I think would grade for example 64UNC APPARENT With rust stains or teller stamp.

I would definitely NOT pay CU price for a note with stains and tears because it is NOT a CU note with those problems. You will have a problem re-selling such a note unless is it is a rarity.
