Great embossing

Hi,

I recently sent in some U. S currency and received the following comment.

$2 1953C Legal Tender Note Granahan Dillon 66 EPQ Exceptional Paper Quality Great Embossing. I am new to certification terminology, and this is the first I have seen. What does embossing refer to.

Thanks in advance

Dear P.J.,

Embossing refers to the raised surface caused by the printing process. More specifically, the embossing shows on the reverse side of where the printing took place.

Thanks!

Steve

What about - Exceptional Embossing, is there a difference and is there a way to score the note higher like the EPQ's? I have two $5 FRN's with great and two with exceptional.

Thanks!
