FRONT and BACK PLATE NUMBERS ??

Thanks for the question! Plate numbers will not usually add a premium to a note. But, in some cases it will. As an example, a 1934D $5: the back plate numbers determine wide and narrow varieties, which have different values. The back plate number can also determine mules.

 

A handy reference guide is the Standard Guide to Small Size U.S. Paper Money 1928 to Date (7th Edition) by John Schwartz and Scott Lindquist.
