  1. I'm new to world currency collecting and just picked up the Standard Catalog of World Paper Money 1961-present. I have the general issues from 1368 on order. I have two questions to ask the community to help me with my collection. 1. Is the newer "General Issues" 16th edition any more helpful than an older edition? I'm not concerned about pricing as I can research that else where. Are older notes being found or something changing other than pricing with each new edition? 2. What is the "Specialized" edition? I guess I have a thrid question also. Why is Krause out of the new stuff? Are they only printing a limited number? The new catalog prices are crazy high over retail pricing.
  2. One thing to look at is the number of Youtube channels that are dedicated to currency and look at their subscribers. I think that is a very tellling indicator or how popular a collectible is with young people. Also, look at the number of local numismatic clubs and their members, I see a down turn in that segment, and it has been for quiet awhile. If I remember correctly, "The Numismatist" from ANA publishes that data once a year. Are there young people entering the hobby, sure. But not like it was decades ago. There is a local coin club in the city I live in, but 95% of the kids that attend it are either dragged there by a parent or they are dropped off for some "free" daycare, and the kids are not that concerned with learning.
