This is my scan of a note I purchased. The seller tinted the scan with more orange to make the note more presentable. Be careful when you buy gold certificates and be sure to ask. Is this the original scan or di you colorize it? I think my scan is nicer!
My scan of the reverse of Fr-1197 $50 Gold Certificate. Next post is the sellers scan.

My theory is that rare notes, especially gold certificates have great potential.
Nobody ever responds to my posts but folks look at the pictures s I assume they enjoy. Here's what my new deal is....count the population report of all the gold certificates from both PMG and PCGS web sites and try to purchase mid-grade versions. I can't afford GEM's. Fr-1174 is a $20 gold certificate. It looks at lot like the well known Fr-1187 with Speelman/White signatures from 1922. OK, for Fr-1187 PMG/PCGS reports 2,168/1,739 for a total of 3,907 graded notes!! Now the Fr-1174...1906 $20 gold that looks very similar to the Fr-1187. Here's the count 35/31 for a total of 66 graded notes!!!!! Think about it...people think a coin is rare when only a couple of thousand have been graded. I bought a note with only 66 examples to be graded. Think how rare that is. There must be value in that rarity that veteran currency collectors are aware but not the general dummies like me!!! Feel free not to comment since no one ever does.

    Gets ripped off buying bills
Seems like every time I purchase a bill ungraded I get ripped off or I am just plain stupid. Check out how stupid I am at purchasing this bill!!

Seller's Scan. This business is full of tricksters. Rule: buy certified notes that the seller guarantees the scan color has not been altered.

    Did you find the repair?
I could not so I called PMG. Sometimes the graders leave notes as to what was repaired. The phone agent told me there was a tear "in the middle of the note at the top" that was repaired. Only then did I locate the repair. The arrow shows. If you had the note in hand prior to the sale and looked it over with a microscope or high magnification and knew what to look for, you would have seen the repair. I looked the note over before grading and did not see it. I left "neutral" feedback to the seller and he threw a fit. He harassed me until I finally clicked a link that he sent to change neutral to positive. Just to get him to quit bugging me. I pointed out it wasn't premium paper and it wasn't near uncirculated and the color of the scan had been whitened...a common Ebay currency trick. Whiten the scan. Is that right?? Was I justified to leave him neutral feedback, or was I just a poorly informed buyer and he simply was doing good business??

    Now the truth...
Sent to PMG and graded. The new PMG holders are absolutely wonderful. Like the note is mounted in a crystal glass container. Even so, the note is scanned with my scanner with no color manipulation. Notice a difference between my scan and the advertised scan? Also, notice the grade isn't quite consistent with the description. Hmmmmm....
PS I blocked my name lest I am victimized. I thought this "premium paper" super version of the wonderful Fr-282 would be the jewel of my collection so I had a pedigree. A pedigree on a now NET graded note.

Can anyone guess why I am lame?
Please give me feedback. I want to hear your opinion. Is losing money a necessary part of collecting notes? Please, more experienced people tell me what I can do other than exhibiting my very low IQ

I am really insightful and smart, check this one out here in Just Kidding I and the in Just Kidding II
In Just Kidding I I show what I brilliantly deduced after great study and deep analysis that there was potential here!

Opinions regarding valu of small and large gold certificates
Does anyone have opinions regarding your opinion on the investment potential for gold certificates. It seems like small and large size gold certificates are good long term investments.

    Now my scan
Heritage says, "The margins are outstandingly large for this type, and the gold inks are as deeply colorful as we have ever seen them. PMG likely saw some very minor flaw with the note out of the holder, but in the holder its obvious original embossing along with its other attributes makes it look like a 65 EPQ to us.
    From The Yuri Solovey Collection"
Now look at their scan compared to mine once I received the note. When will this monkey business stop!!?? I expect it from Ebay trolls, but a fine Auction House??

The reverse grade describing why the note is NET.
Now inspect the note very carefully to see if you can spot the "Repair". A good test if you can grade by a scan. If you find the repair before I give you the answer, you have a very keen eye!!

Here I demonstrate my powers and gifts in spotting undeniable opportunity.
I would love some feedback regarding Just Kidding I and Just Kidding II. I would like some praise about how I am creating value (not sure for who?)

Sat in a drawer for 40 years
Our grandfather saved a few bills from when he first immigrated to the US in 1917. I decided to have them graded and although worth very little, they are priceless to me. Sweet man thought he was passing down valuable currency!

Obverse is rare Parker Burke signature combo
I keep believing large size gold certificates that are GEM or relatively rare are the way to go.

After a real grader does the job!!
It's "gem like" because someone, I have no idea who would do this, sprays shellack on the note. "Gemlike" turns to NET!!
