BEST TIME TO START A NEW SMALL SIZE FEDERAL RESERVE NOTES SET TYPE COLLECTION
Building a New Set Type CollectionsThis is the Fifty Anniversary of the 1963 series of Small Size Federal Reserve Notes, as more new 2013 series notes are coming out of BEP, PMG is updating all the sets to add the new notes for all denominations sets. As noted in my last journal, the local bank is the best place to pick up the new crisp uncirculated notes, or at your local currency dealer. In the last two weeks of August, I have pick up the following notes Fr #3001-A, Fr #3001-E, Fr #3001-F, Fr #3001-G, Fr #3001-K stars and Fr #3001-L stars. At this time I have not located the Washington DC Fr #3002-F and F stars, also no Fort Worth TX Fr #3001-G stars. The new fifty note sheet notes are coming out will centered. Take a look at the one dollar Set Type $1 Federal Reserve Note - District Set with Stars and Varieties, their are 612 notes in this set, you will see the set change as it is updated. Also noted in www.uspapermoneyinfo.com a run of Fr #3001-L stars were printed, with a run of only 80,000 notes, they were listed as part of the January 15th run, at this time none of the notes are in circulation.Update September 10, 2015 - Just pick up ten new 2013 Fr #1996-L five dollars notes from the local B of A today, all are well centered and will grade out at 65-EPQ or better.Update October 9, 2013 - The new 2013 Fr #3001-L came back graded as PMG-66E and Fr #3002-B came back graded as PMG-67E today.Update February 8, 2017 - Add photo to JournalTo see old comments for this Journal entry, click here.
