Antique Bank Check

Can anyone provide information about an old check with a graphic of a Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Seal (side ways) on the left side of the check and B.& P. Gibson 536 PaJ noted at the bottom of the attached register tab? I have most of a checkbook full of these checks. I have tried surfing the net to find answers, but only ran into dead ends except for one. (See Attachment here)

It is not a check but a cognovit note, a form of promissory note.
