Hi, Revenant, and thanks for the feedback, as always. Due to the large volume of backlog of requests for notes that currently have no placement in the PMG Registry, we are prioritizing those notes. Your request is logical. We will make updates when time is available. Thanks, and have a good day.

Thank you! I still have my Signature set for these in the meantime.

  2. With the understanding that this won't happen until after the awards cut-off, because of the freeze and among other things, I'd like for the following changes to be made:

For the Venezuelan 2018-Date, P101-Date set, I think this needs to be changed to 2018-2020, P101-P114

Banco Central de Venezuela, 2018-Date, P101-Date

I also think a new set / category needs to be made for 2021-Date, P115-P119 - These are the New Digital Bolivar notes.

Alternatively, the new slots for the new notes could be added to the existing 2018-Date set, but, given the transition from the Bolivar Soberano to the Bolivar Digital, I think it'd be better and more consistent to split into a new set / category.

  3. Hi, Ali!

I hope you and everyone at NGC, PMG and the rest of the CCG companies are doing okay now that Ian is headed back out over the water on the other side of Florida.

Would it be possible to get a slot added for P-106a, 100 Dollars, 2020 (Cert # 2091005-039)

    Category should be this one:

    Public Sets Home Page (collectors-society.com)

    Thank you!

Again, I hope you're all okay and the lights are back on soon if they went out.

And when you go to buy a PMG certified banknote I would hope you would always be verifying the certification and compare the label to the banknote. There are a good number of errors and fakes out there.

The vast majority of what I've bought the last few years has been from a large PMG Authorized dealer, and it's mostly pretty low value modern stuff. While I suppose anything is possible, I doubt one of the larger international PMG authorized dealers would jeopardize their relationship with PMG to sell fake notes in fake holders. So I don't lose much sleep over it. Just my 2 cents.

Do you think that PMG should just stop putting catalog numbers on the PMG label?

No. It would make the new ones inconsistent with the old ones, and I rarely prefer less identifying information vs more.

Also, I'd much rather just have to look for "P-1d" when looking for a note I want than have to check the 4-5 other things I'd have to check to know a P-1d vs P-1c vs P-1b vs P-1a. Also, with some of the things I collect, the difference between the "a" and "b" is the watermark, and the sellers rarely show the watermark in pictures. PMG will also often indicate a type 1 or type 2 watermark on the label, but that gets me back into the mode of having to look at 4-5 things to know what variety I'm getting vs just having it on the label.

  6. For the following 2 Venezuela Categories, we need to add slots for P-112, P-113, and P-114 - Notes printed in 2020 and released in 2021:

Banco Central de Venezuela, 2018-Date, P101-Date

Venezuela, 1940-Date, P31-Date, Issued Notes, Complete

    image.png.dd0fff82533770ae50daf0edc358c227.png

In the New Zimbabwe category (Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe, 2016-Date, P99-Date, Issued Notes) we need a slot added for P-105 (50 Dollars).

    Not even $2? lol

I think the bigger problem is that it's a hundo, if this was a single it'd be much easier to sell and make a buck or two. Not many people are going to want to leave a common hundred dollar bill laying around for a chop mark or because it's a star note. If this was a single I'd think about keeping it in a top load.

Is that a heart in the center of the stamp?

I'd spend it. I'm not that made of money to keep a $100 bill for a reason I don't find especially interesting. (shrug)

Looks like a chop mark or just someone bored with a stamp, either way it doesn't really add any value to the note.

You could probably get a small premium for the star notes, and maybe find a chop mark collector to pay an added premium  but we're talking a couple of bucks not multiples of face value.

For most people its just going to lower the value if anything. It's basically worth face IMO.

That's interesting an interesting thought, so now that it's out there will they become more aggressive and are you going to sandbag on requesting slots? lol

Well, in about 22 days we enter the freeze and slots can't be added until after the cut-off at that point.

Personally I don't know how much I care when slots get added. I'm sure it'll happen and when it does they'll buy notes and be beating me a month later. lol I don't really focus on my Soberano competitive set even to the extent that I have "Operation Sunrise" or "Zombie Dollars." I see "Gradually, Then Suddenly" and "Strength and Sovereignty" as my flagships and I think PMG does too. lol And I run those shows. lol

Edited to add: I have 2 of 3 new notes now, so soon them getting more aggressive won't matter to me much. Lol

  10. Mike and my favorite paper-crack-dealer had this and a 114a 1 Million note ending in auctions at 2AM last night. This one had no bids on it when I went to bed last night at 11PM and so I bid the starting bid and went to sleep. Woke up today to find that I won it for $34.99 all in. The 114a got a sniper late at night and went for $35+shipping.

I have 1 main source of competition in this series that seems to have been largely ignoring these, I guess because they don't have competitive set slots yet.

I guess I don't see the purpose of slashing 6 zeros IF you want to go to an all digital currency, the same reasoning applies to printing new notes. This half-hearted attempt at a CBDC is just sad, not to mention a digital currency is probably not practical for a large portion of the population anyway. Continually renaming the national currency and chopping off zeros each time is crazy. :frustrated:

It's a half-hearted, non-committal approach that dooms the whole venture to failure before it starts. By not going all in they'll never get the population to adopt it and believe in it.

The 3rd redenomination in Zimbabwe and the 4th dollar was almost 100% about the fact that computerized banking systems are not designed to deal with numbers in the quadrillion and quintillion range. They were forced into it by computer overflow errors.

    Hello, Revenant.

I realized you meant 3d, not 3s. (They are way too close on the keyboard...) I downloaded the images to my own computer, deleted them from your Sig set, and then I added them back again. That worked, for whatever reason. :takeit: Thanks.

Funny thing is I did 3s deliberately in an attempt to be plural because the images weren't showing in the gallery for the 3d or the 3e, which were added at the same time. But it's good. It let me test your fix on the 3e and it worked. So I'm just gonna shrug and call it good. GREMLINS!

It's not looking good for a redesign when they launch the digital bolivar and if they print notes to circulate along with it.

I have no idea if this is true, but it's the only image I could find of the digital bolivar. lol Were they going to print new notes when they launch the digital bolivar or just let the old ones circulate? I don't think they were doing a redenomination at this time.

Well, it sounds like a mixed bag and a mess. It sounds like there WILL be a 3rd redenomination that is going to remove 6 zeros and there WILL be 5 new bank notes. Some things say that this will NOT have a blockchain component and it will not be a CBDC, some say it will, some say it will be a text-message-based / phone-based payment system similar to some of the things you see in Africa.

I had missed most of these announcements a few months ago. I may have to re-work my P-113 description that a wrote a few months ago and just posted. It's hard to deal with these things and making these set descriptions these days. The designs are giving me nothing new to talk about and the story from the BCV is constantly in flux and I don't think they even know what they're doing at this point.

  14. My latest arrived today. I'm glad to finallly be seeing graded examples of these hitting the market. It looks like, this time, the dealers waited to send them in until the catalogue updated so you didn't get any "Pick Unlisted" notes this time. I wonder if we'll see the same thing with the new ZImbabwean P-105, meaning you won't see those show up graded until probably March or April of 2022.

IF they release any more notes in this series without a redenomination or something I REALLY hope they change the design up in some way other than just changing the colors. It is starting to get hard to maintain excitement over these. They all look the same! lol

As a stand alone sig set or add them to GTS?

As it is I'd add them in GTS between the 4th dollars and the new dollars, like I do my US notes and the 20 Rand now.

I have considered splitting GTS into two parts and having the "old dollars" (p-1 to p-98) and then the "new" dollars from p-99. In that split regime the multi-currency period would be a 3rd, middle, sig set. But I haven't done that so far in part because the "new" set would be so small and then it's just sig set that does the same job as an existing competitive set.

Since GTS won a major award, there's also something to be said for preserving the character of the set as it was when it won and developing/ evolving it in that context.

A alot here is going to have to depend on how the new system evolves. If they do a new redenomination and make a new series starting from 1 or 2 dollars I may split it and make that new set. If they abandoned the currency again and went back to a multi-currency I could see the multi-currency notes and those notes being a fun signature set.

Of course, I suppose there's nothing stopping me from keeping both the combined GTS and making new, more limited sets like what I just described.
