So, during my daily routine of bringing in a bundle of $1 bills to exchange for more $1 bills (to look for older bills and/or star notes), the teller asked if I was interested in these: a 1929 $10 and 1929 $100.
So, of course, I said yes! I guess the $10 one came in thru the drive-thru earlier today and the teller had the $100 in her drawer - both exchanged at face value.
I'm trying to figure out if these are Type 1 or Type 2. Also, why are there 'blocked' out sections near the signatures?
Also, what grade would you give to these bills?

This is my first official currency collection...
I took a little break from collecting coins and when the collecting itch came back, I decided I wanted to start a currency collection. When I collect, I am not looking for graded coins or currency. I am very interested in history, so it bring me joy to actually hold and feel currency from our past. Seeing it in plastic does not get me excited.
Anyway, for my first collection, I was wanted to collect at least one bill from each of the series (1963-Present) from each of the Federal District Banks (A-L). When I started, I did not realize bills were printed in both D.C. and F.W.. Needless to say, I have not gotten so far to collect one from each (yet).
Lucky for me, I am the treasurer for our local fundraising group for our office. Since most of our donations or collections from fundraisers are in the form of cash, I am able to look at every coin and bill before I deposit anything into the bank. Even though my wife thinks some of my collections are crazy, she too has started checking her cash and I have even had a couple fellow collectors come to rescue and help out.
To date (03/14/2012) I have been able to collect just over 65 notes; but I have plenty more spaces to fill.
Below is an Excel spreadsheet that will update automatically when I get new bills in to fill my collection. All of the bills are being logged and placed in BCW Pro 4-Pocket Currency Storage Pages. Since there are 12 Federal District Banks, each series takes up only 3 actual pages. One day I hope to have a binder full of bills from each series and each Federal District [crossing my fingers].
